BEIJING, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Touhid Hossain, adviser for foreign affairs of the interim government of Bangladesh, on Saturday exchanged congratulatory messages on the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

The traditional friendship between China and Bangladesh has a long history, Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, noted in the message.

Since the establishment of diplomatic ties half a century ago, both sides have always respected and understood each other, committed to advancing exchanges and cooperation in various fields, supported each other in international and regional affairs, and continuously promoted the development of bilateral relations, he said.

Wang expressed readiness to work with Touhid to take the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties as an opportunity to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries, and make unremitting efforts to deepen the China-Bangladesh comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

For his part, Touhid said that the friendship between Bangladesh and China has grown stronger over time, showcasing their shared values, high mutual trust and aligned vision.
