COLOMBO -- The Sri Lankan government on Friday announced that public sector employees will work from home for two weeks starting from Monday.

The government took this decision taking into consideration the impact of fuel shortages on public and private transport.

HONG KONG -- The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government said Friday that it will distribute around 250,000 sets of COVID-19 rapid antigen test (RAT) kits as part of a follow-up on the recent detection of the COVID-19 virus in sewage samples.

The test kits will be distributed to residents, cleaning workers and property management staff working in the areas with positive sewage testing results showing relatively high viral loads, in order to help identify infected persons. (Hong Kong-COVID-19)

DHAKA -- Bangladeshi soldiers were deployed on Friday to help the country's Sylhet region, some 240 km northeast of the capital Dhaka, tackle its worsening flood situation.

Troops were sent to deal with rising water levels in the Sylhet and Sunamganj district, 296 km northeast of the capital Dhaka, caused by seasonal rains and a heavy rush of water from neighboring India. (Bangladesh-Flood)

KUNDUZ -- At least one worshipper lost his life and six others sustained injuries as a blast ripped through a mosque in Imam Sahib district of the northern Kunduz province on Friday.

An eyewitness who declined to be named confirmed that the blast took place at 01:35 p.m. local time in Alefbirdi mosque when dozens of worshipers were offering Friday prayers, leaving at least one dead and six more injured.

In the meantime, another eyewitness Mohammad Karim asserted that some worshippers were killed or injured due to the blast inside the mosque. (Afghanistan-Mosque-Blast)

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia is ready to host the 16th ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting (ADMM) on June 22 in Phnom Penh, according to a defense ministry's press statement on Friday.

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen. Tea Banh will chair the meeting, which will bring together defense ministers from all ASEAN member states, the statement said. (Cambodia-ASEAN-Defense Ministers' Meeting)
