MANILA -- Filipinos aged 60 and above can now receive China's Sinovac vaccine after the Philippines' Food and Drug Administration (FDA) allowed its use for senior citizens on Wednesday.
"After considering the recommendation of the (vaccine) experts and the current situation of high COVID-19 transmission and limited available vaccines, the FDA is allowing the use of Sinovac on senior citizens," FDA Director General Enrique Domingo said in a statement. (Philippines-China-Vaccine)

JAKARTA -- At least 138 people died and 61 others are still missing in flash floods and landslides triggered by tropical cyclone Seroja in Indonesia's East Nusa Tenggara province, the National Disaster Management Agency said on Wednesday.
The agency's head Doni Monardo disclosed that the deaths were reported in East Flores district (67), Alor district (25), Malaka district (4), Lembata district (32), Kupang district (5), Sabu Raijua district (2), and one each in Ende district, Kupang city, and Ngada district. DHAKA -- Bangladesh's Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday reported 7,626 new COVID-19 infections, the highest increase in a single day since the pandemic started in the country.
The virus has so far spread to nearly every Bangladeshi district and the official data showed that the national tally for COVID-19 infections has increased to 659,278 with 9,447 deaths including 63 on Wednesday. (Bangladesh-COVID-19 Infections)

NEW DELHI -- A total of 115,736 new COVID-19 cases were registered in the past 24 hours in India, said official data released by the federal health ministry on Wednesday.
The latest single-day spike, highest so far, took the total tally to 12,801,785. This is the second time within this week when more than 100,000 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in India. Earlier, 103,558 new cases were reported on Monday. (India-Pandemic)
