Dayaw IP festival records zero incidents

ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Oct. 12 (PIA) - The Philippine International Indigenous Peoples' Festival in Capiz recorded zero event-related incidents.

Capiz Police Provincial Director Canilo Fuentes said the three-day hosting of the "Dayaw" festival by the province of Capiz, in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), was generally peaceful with no major incidents reported.

The event, set last October 8 to 10, was graced by top officials from the Embassies in the Philippines, including Nigeria, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Australia, NCCA led by its chairperson National Artist Virgilio Almario, Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Assistant Secretary Ana Marie Rafael, as well as officials from the various national government agencies and local government units in the country.

Fuentes has also commended the good performance of the Task Group "Dayaw" in ensuring a peaceful, safe and secured celebration here.

The Task Group was composed of the Capiz PNP, National Support Units in Capiz, Philippine Army, Bureau of Fire Protection, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, Capiz Emergency Response Team, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, emergency response groups from the different local government units, volunteers and force multipliers.

He also thanked all those who have helped attain the successful turn-out of the event in Capiz including the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams from the different barangays especially in areas with activity engagements.

Fuentes has likewise directed the Capiz Police Administration Branch to issue letters of commendation to the members of the Task Group "Dayaw."

The Task Group Dayaw, led by Fuentes as Commander, has three sub task groups (STG) namely STG for Security led by PCInsp Edyliz Ritchie Crucero, STG Peace and Order led by PSupt Dante S Tayco, and STG Emergency Preparedness and Response led by PDRRM Officer Esperedion Pelaez. (LTP/JBG/PIA6-Capiz)
