US forces eliminate top al-Qaeda figure

It has been announced that US troops have killed a leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq.
US General David Perkins told reporters
the terrorist group's ability to carry out attacks had been further reduced by the death of Haji Hammadi.
General Perkins said US troops killed Hammadi and another insurgent in Baghdad's Mansour neighborhood.
Hammadi had been accused of planning suicide bombings, killings and kidnappings, including the abduction and murder of a US soldier in 2004.
