Sudan government imposes Khartoum curfew

The Sudanese government has imposed a curfew in the capital Khartoum in response to an attack by rebels from the Darfur Justice and Equality Movement.
There was heavy fighting in west Khartoum and the army deployed helicopters and tanks.
The Sudanese government says it has repelled the rebel attack.
Earlier, a JEM spokesperson said the rebels had entered Khartoum and were on the point of driving out President Omar Hassan al-Bashir.
Over the past few days, there has been fierce fighting between JEM insurgents and the government army.
